Holy Shit!

I got hit by a car yesterday.

First, let me say that I am fine.

I was riding south on the 163 on my motorcycle.  As I was getting ready to exit onto 5 South I saw a big white shape out of the corner of my left eye.  I looked over and a white Audi had totally lost control and was sliding on the highway.

The guy fishtailed a little bit and then was perpendicular to the direction of traffic.  I tried moving away from him but his bumper hit the back of my motorcycle on the exhaust.

Luckily, I didn’t grip the controls very hard and I think that saved me.  My bike fishtailed once or twice and swung left and right but then straightened out and I was fine.

I think it helped that I was in a motorcycle accident last year.  I didn’t have a lot of tension about possibly going down.  I just thought to myself, “man, this sucks.  I hope this doesn’t hurt that much.”

Somehow I stayed upright.

As it turns out, the reason the other driver lost control is because the left, rear wheel of his car came completely off!  Must have been very scary for him and his wife, who was with him in the car.  They both looked a little dazed when we were talking by the side of the road.

Here’s some pictures:

  1. Holy shit is right! Good thing you were able to stay cool under pressure. So glad your guardian angel was paying attention (and you, too!), everyone is okay and no serious injuries. Bikes and cars can be replaced but people can’t. Wonder why the tire came off? Did they have work done on it recently? Maybe it’s time to get a bigger bike instead of a crotch rocket? Just a thought. Love you!!
